Description of situation in Vietnam: Bao Dai vs. Ho Chi Minh; Bao Dai is a French puppet who controls 25% of population. "Once again we seem to have been manoeuvred into the support of a regime whose only merit is that it is anti-communist and that is not a good enough way either to contain or defeat communism." The CCF was 4 years ahead of the Liberals -- LB Pearson does not express this thought clearly until 1954 - see item 225.
