Notes:

Toronto Star stories reporting the date of the "first refugee flight" arriving in Toronto from Hong Kong on July 27, 1979. Stories were published July 27 and July 28 and July 30.

The July 27 article describes the flight of part of the Canadian Forces Operation Magnet II, which will run flights from Hong Kong to Vancouver and then on to Toronto, with flights every 72 hours for 5 weeks. Air Canada will also operate charter flights.

The CF web site (see related items) attributes later dates to the first flights, and does not mention Toronto as a destination. A CBC story agrees with the Toronto Star story.
